March for Mely

A project commissioned by my late friend Mely’s brother Albert Corado (Al for LA). This is the second annual March For Mely, where we march from the LAPD station to the Trader Joe’s where Mely was killed.

This was a very personal project for me because Mely was a dear friend of mine that I spent a lot of time with up until her death.

The image I drew from was the last picture she and I took together a few months before her death.

I wanted the illustration to really convey and illuminate her charm and personality. The color palette was requested by Albert, her brother. The design style is based off a stippling effect I thought would match the overall feel of the image.
